What data is being used in the SBA Atlas?

The SBA releases data for all SBA 7(a) loans to the public, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The SBA Atlas uses the SBA 7(a) dataset that the SBA provides on their website.

What is the SBA’s Fiscal Year?

When you select a single year or range of years using the SBA Atlas, you will be shown SBA loan data for those applicable fiscal years. The SBA’s fiscal year is from October 1 – September 30. For example, if you are selecting the fiscal year of 2020, you will be shown loan data for all loans conducted from October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.

When will the data be updated in the SBA Atlas?

The SBA releases new 7(a) loan data on a quarterly basis. When the new loan data becomes available to the public, we will update the data in the SBA Atlas as soon as possible. This data is typically trailing by one quarter.

How is the Loan Volume metric calculated?

For all SBA 7(a) loans, the SBA reports on the “Gross Approval” amount of all loans conducted through the program. This “Gross Approval” dollar amount is the data point used to calculate the overall Loan Volume.

Does this data include PPP (Payroll Protection Program) loans conducted through the SBA?

No it does not. The data includes only SBA loans conducted through the 7(a) loan program, which is separate from PPP.

How do I change my password?

In the upper right corner of the SBA Atlas you will see “My Account”. Click on this link to be taken to your account dashboard. Here you will be able to update your password or other account details.
